Walking Safari
The Wild on Foot

Meeting animals on their own terms, walking quietly alongside them, gives you a completely new way of seeing the world. Walking safaris are the original safari and still the purest — no engines, no rush, just you, your guide, and the wild around you. You notice things you’d never see from a vehicle: elephant footprints leading to hidden waterholes, birds calling from the treetops, tiny tracks hinting at who passed by recently. It’s slow, it’s intimate, and it changes the way you understand nature.

Our knowledgeable guides are your backstage pass. Together with a ranger, they lead the way, teach you to read tracks, identify animal calls, and understand how each species interacts with its environment.

Whether it’s a few hours in the savannah, a half-day trek in forested hills, or a full-day exploration, walking safaris let you experience Tanzania in a way no vehicle ever could. Every hike feels personal, every moment intimate — and you can go at your own pace, noticing the small wonders that make the wilderness extraordinary.

Travel Tips

  • A knowledgeable guide: Safety and insights are everything — our guides ensure you see and understand the wildlife while staying secure.

  • Wear appropriate clothing: Neutral colors, sturdy shoes, sun protection, and a light rain jacket depending on the weather and environment.

  • Bring binoculars and a camera: You’ll want to catch details up close and from a distance. There’s always a pair of binoculars in our jeep that you can take on your walking safari.

  • Stay hydrated and pack snacks: Even a few hours on foot in the Tanzanian sun can be surprisingly exhausting. Though, in certain areas, it’s best to check with your guide before bringing snacks.

  • Respect local wildlife and people: Keep a safe distance, follow your guide’s instructions, and observe without disturbing. And a friendly greeting (jambo) to people is always highly appreciated.
