Mkomazi National Park
A hidden Rhino and Wildlife Sanctuary

Tucked away in northern Tanzania, Mkomazi National Park is where adventure still feels wild. Together with Tsavo National Park across the Kenyan border, Mkomazi forms one of the largest and most important ecosystems in the region, a vast savannah teeming with wildlife. On one side, elephants and giraffes roam under wide-open skies; on the other, the emerald slopes of the Usambara Mountains rise in the distance. Few travellers make it this far, which means you’ll have the landscapes, the wildlife, and the stillness almost to yourself.

Mkomazi is especially famous for its black rhino and African elephant conservation programs. The Rhino sanctuaries have played a vital role in protecting rhinos from poaching, and guided visits let you safely observe these magnificent animals in their natural habitat while learning about the park’s ongoing conservation efforts.

Beyond rhinos, Mkomazi is a haven for other rare wildlife, such as the Gerenuk, the long-necked antelope, and the African wild dog. You can also spot lions, giraffes, zebras, and other antelopes wandering the acacia-studded savannah.
