Mikumi National Park
The City’s Wild Escape

Just a few hours’ drive from Dar es Salaam, Mikumi National Park is the kind of place where you can leave the city after breakfast and be watching elephants by lunch.

Its wide, golden plains stretch out against the Uluguru Mountains, creating a landscape that feels straight out of a wildlife documentary. Lions lounge in the shade of acacia trees, giraffes nibble at the treetops, and in the Mkata Floodplain, zebras, wildebeest, and buffalo often graze together in a classic African scene.

Because it’s part of the larger Selous-Nyerere ecosystem, Mikumi also serves as a vital wildlife corridor — meaning you never know what might wander in from the surrounding wilderness.
